LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

The legal requirements for a wedding are fairly simple. Check your status below and the required documents.

If you are Single and over 18:

All we require is a copy of your ID Book or Passport.

If you are single and under 18:

We require a copy of your ID Book, or Passport as well as a permission form completed by both parents (if both alive). This form is available from us.

If you are Divorced:

We require a copy of your ID Book or Passport as well as a copy of the divorce decree.

If you are a Widow/er:

We require a copy of your ID Book, or Passport as well as a copy of your late spouse's death certificate.

Documents not available:

Where any of these documents are not available, please contact us in order to ascertain what alternatives are acceptable.

No wedding can take place without the correct documentation being provided.

Apostiles and Full Marriage Certificates:

All couples will receive an abridged Marriage Certificate directly after the ceremony. Should you require a Full Marriage Certificate and/or and Apostile then kindly inform us. This can take up to four weeks after the ceremony.

Non South African Couples:

It is especially vital that the correct documentation is brought with should you be a non South African couple looking to get married. This also applies to a non South African individual marrying a South African citizen.
